What to expect?

Leading (service design) teams is a very challenging and demanding task in both traditional and agile organisations. This four-module learning journey is designed to support current or prospective leaders to step up and succeed in the role of leader.

The course aims to enhance your leadership skills holistically, addressing these four dimensions: leading yourself, leading your team, and leading the organisation, with an additional module focused on integrating AI as a reflective leadership companion. There will be a rich blend of different formats such as inspiring theory and lectures, interactive sessions, peer-to-peer reflection, self-assessments, and case clinics to support you in working on your real-work situations. You will also be able to connect with like-minded people in a safe space and learn from the experiences of others. Every participant will be matched to another participant, his or her 'buddy'. The theoretical impulses will encourage you to rethink or develop your own leadership attitude.

Module contents

Each module is supported by short video inputs and a quiz designed to encourage reflection and learning transfer. Ahead of the final module, participants complete a short assignment that brings together the previous modules and sets the foundation for Leading with AI.

What will you take away from this course?

  • Clarify your leadership role and attitude through practical methods and reflection

  • Use a Leadership & Change Agent Toolbox and Playbook and understand its impact

  • Empower and motivate your team using proven leadership and change theories

5 reasons why you should join the Service Design Leadership Lab!

Holistic Leadership Development in the Age of AI

This programme takes a holistic view of leadership, focusing on leading yourself, leading your team, and leading your organisation. Throughout all modules, we explore how AI is influencing leadership expectations, decision-making, and everyday leadership work.

Leadership today goes beyond managing tasks. It requires self-awareness, good judgement, and the ability to navigate complexity while working alongside new technologies. Through reflection, self-assessments, and dialogue, you will deepen your understanding of your leadership role and how it continues to evolve in an AI-influenced environment.

Interactive, Reflective, and Practice-Oriented Learning

Learning in this programme is active and closely connected to your real work. You will engage with inspiring inputs, short video content, quizzes, case clinics, interactive group sessions, and peer-to-peer reflection. Real leadership situations form the starting point for discussion, experimentation, and learning.

Across all modules, you will reflect on how leadership practice is changing with AI and how to use it responsibly as a support for thinking and reflection. Hands-on exercises and reflection tasks help you apply what you learn step by step, leading to a final assignment where you bring everything together in your own leadership context.

Becoming the Leader People Trust and Want to Follow

Leadership is ultimately about trust, clarity, and influence. This programme supports you in developing a leadership style that empowers people, encourages collaboration, and helps create a healthy and positive organisational culture.

You will explore how to lead with empathy, support creativity, and make thoughtful decisions, even in complex and uncertain situations influenced by AI.

The focus is on strengthening your ability to guide others with confidence while staying human-centred and true to your values.

A Practical Toolset for Real-World Challenges

The Service Design Leadership Lab is strongly practice-oriented. You will work with a Leadership and Change Agent Toolbox and Playbook that brings together leadership models, service design principles, and AI-supported reflection.

You will apply these approaches to real leadership challenges such as developing teams, leading change, fostering creativity, and embedding service design in organisations. Along the way, we explore how AI can support clearer thinking, better preparation, and more thoughtful decisions, without replacing human leadership responsibility.

A Safe Space to Learn and Grow with Like-Minded Leaders

Leadership can be demanding and, at times, feel isolating. This programme offers a safe and supportive learning environment with a small group of participants, allowing space for openness, trust, and meaningful exchange.

You will connect with peers facing similar leadership challenges, learn from different perspectives, and share your own experiences. Each participant is paired with a 'buddy' to support deeper reflection and learning throughout the journey, fostering lasting professional connections.
