Lab: Leading with AI

Course content

During the Service Design Leadership Lab, our experienced trainer will give you the theory and hands-on, practical experience to enrich your leadership skills, across four insight-filled modules:

KEY TOPICS

  • Foundations of leadership: perspectives, context, key competencies, and classical leadership models in service design

  • Self-awareness as a leadership skill: personal leadership style, values, and decision patterns

  • Leadership approaches in practice: situational, servant, humble, agile, adaptive, and transformational leadership

  • Self-leadership in an AI-influenced environment: judgement, responsibility, and reflective decision-making

  • Individual reflection and peer-to-peer counselling (at the end of session 1)

Leading Myself

Starting with myself to become a leader people love to follow

Leadership begins within. In this module, you’ll explore the foundations of authentic leadership, starting with a deep understanding of yourself. Learn how to identify your personal leadership style, align with your values, and apply diverse approaches like situational, servant, and transformational leadership in service design. Through individual reflection and peer counselling, this session equips you to lead with confidence, inspiring trust and motivation in others.

Leading My Team

Empowering the teams I lead and work with

Great leaders empower great teams. In this module, you’ll learn how to build trust, foster motivation, and create psychological safety within your teams, whether working in traditional or agile organisations. With insights from neuroscience and leadership theories like Growth Mindset and Leadership Agility, you’ll apply these concepts directly to service design projects. Reflect on workplace challenges through individual and peer-to-peer counselling, leaving equipped to lead your team with confidence and impact.

Leading the Change

Being a catalyst for embedding Service Design

and shaping an innovation mindset

Service design leaders are catalysts for innovation. In this module, you’ll explore the challenges of embedding service design within organisations, from fostering a culture of creativity and innovation to navigating internal politics and stakeholder management. Learn how to prototype organisational change, communicate the value of service design, and elevate your organisation’s UX and service design maturity. Through case clinics and reflection, you’ll apply these insights to real-world challenges, equipping you to lead with vision and impact.

Leading with AI Support (Integrate and Anchor)

Transfer your learnings and develop an actionable plan for your leadership journey

This final module focuses on bringing everything together. You reflect on your experiences, exchange insights with peers, and explore how to apply what you have learned in your leadership role, with a clear focus on leading with AI as a support for leadership thinking, reflection, and decision-making.

 

Through interactive sessions, you will develop a personalised action plan and an AI-supported leadership framework based on master prompts. This helps you anchor your leadership style and skills and ensures lasting impact in your career and workplace.

  • Final module focused on integrating learnings across all modules

  • Peer-to-peer exchange, interactive sessions, and reflection on applying learnings at work

  • Leading with AI as a reflective support for leadership thinking and decision-making

Prof Dr Tina Weisser holds a professorship in Service Design at MUC.DAI - Munich Center for Digital Sciences and AI at University of Applied Science Munich and works as a management consultant for more than 20 years. Her research and professional activities focus on service design implementation, change management and leadership.
